Steamboat boasts some of the best breakfast spots in all of ski country. My top favorite ski town breakfasts of all time are all in Steamboat Springs, Colorado! 

There are some incredible breakfast restaurants in Steamboat to choose from to start your day. These breakfast spots are mostly casual restaurants with a warm and welcoming vibe.

The Best Guide to Breakfast in Steamboat

Winona’s 

Winona’s is my favorite breakfast spot in Steamboat! Every time I visit Steamboat, Winona’s is at the top of the list. It’s a true local’s favorite breakfast restaurant and for good reason. If you haven’t had one of Winona’s cinnamon rolls yet, you must order one the next time you’re in town. 

Winona’s in Steamboat has a super convenient location right on Lincoln Avenue in Steamboat Springs. Easy to get to, especially when you’re strolling down Lincoln looking for a place to pop into for a delicious meal.

Winona’s offers fresh breakfast choices that include their own Huevos Rancheros, Winona’s scramble, the Avocado Smasher, or Corned Beef Hash. Winona’s menu will delight you with many savory and sweet options, it will be hard to choose! 

Winona’s is one of the best breakfasts in Steamboat Springs.

Creekside Cafe 

If you’re looking for the perfectly prepared Eggs Benedict, Creekside Cafe is your next favorite breakfast restaurant in Steamboat! Omelets served with potatoes or grits are also on offer at Creekside Cafe and griddle options are available too. 

Pop into Creekside Cafe for a Patterson Barn Burner with bacon and cheddar on a biscuit with potatoes and eggs. Or, how about a Banana Nutella Sandwich? Yes, a toasted croissant with caramelized banana and chocolate hazelnut spread. You earned it on the slopes! When you’re looking for breakfast restaurants in Steamboat, absolutely give Creekside a try! 

Freshies Restaurant

I go to Freshies every time I’m in Steamboat, just for the Power Bowls! Acai Bowl with blended Acai berries, almond milk, and homemade granola or a Green Machine with spinach, avocado, matcha, mango, chia, and homemade granola. There are additional healthy breakfast bowls on the menu at Freshies. 

Freshies in Steamboat also offer Eggs Benny in traditional style, Florentine Benny, Avocado Smash, or a delicious Skillet! Order a Freshie’s Southwest Skillet, Tomatillo White Cheddar Enchilada with Tomatillo Chorizo sauce, or Huevos Rancheros for a savory delicious breakfast. If eggs are your style, try the Sedona Omelette, Western Omellete, or one of the many egg dishes on offer at Freshies in Steamboat. Freshies is another top spot for breakfast in Steamboat. 

The Paramount 

When dining at The Paramount in Steamboat, you’ll find a very casual atmosphere with a delightful menu of classic breakfast dishes such as a savory Breakfast Sandwich, Steak and Eggs, Avocado Toast, or a Breakfast Burrito. An amazing specialty served at The Paramount is the Chipotle Salmon with cream cheese, mixed greens, spicy balsamic mustard dressing, and roasted tomatoes.

Or, give a try the Chilaquiles, which are corn chips with green chili, asadero cheese, pico de gallo, and two fried eggs. The Paramount in Steamboat is awesome for lunch, too!

Yampa Valley Kitchen  

Yampa Valley Kitchen is a quaint, adorable restaurant in downtown Steamboat Springs. If you’re looking for a delicious crepe, either sweet or savory, you’ll find them on the Yampa Valley Kitchen’s menu! Choose from Chocolate Hazelnut Crepe, Lemen Crepe, or a savory crepe of ham, wild mushroom conserva, and gruyere cheese. 

Additional creative breakfast entrees offered at Yampa Valley Kitchen are Gravlax on Rye, which is cream cheese, yuzu pickles, pickled onion, capers, radish, dill, and greens on everything spiced rye bread. Or, try a Hall & Oats bowl made with stone oats, almond milk, berries, banana, dried papaya, shaved coconut, maple syrup, and cocoa nibs. 

Scrumptious egg dishes are also on offer such as French Omelet, Vegetable Omelet, Reuben Eggs Benedict, and Huevos Rancheros. 

If you visit Yampa Valley Kitchen on the weekend, you’ll enjoy the Brunch Menu! The offerings on the brunch menu feature all of the deliciousness on the breakfast menu plus a delicious Bok Choy Salad, YVK Burger, Monte Cristo, and a Vegan Veggie Burger made with chickpeas, mushrooms, hazelnuts with garlic aioli, and pickled onions. 

Rex’s American Grill & Bar 

Rex’s American Grill & Bar is located inside the Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs and serves up fresh breakfast classics for a simple breakfast. You can choose an egg dish such as Eggs & Bacon or a Denver Omelet with ham and peppers, or a hearty Breakfast Sandwich of scrambled eggs, bacon, and American cheese on toasted sourdough. 

Rex’s in Steamboat also has a Loaded Burrito, Burrito Bowl, or Veggie Bowl to start your day! Of course, you can also indulge in Chocolate Waffles, Blueberry Waffles, or sweet French Toast. One of the best, classic spots in Steamboat for breakfast. 

Johnny B Good’s Diner 

If you’re looking for breakfast served all day in Steamboat, check out Johnny B Good’s Diner. Centrally located on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat, Johnny B Good’s offers up Buttermilk Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, Corn Beef Hash, and Huevos Verde. 

Along with these delicious specialties, Johnny B Good’s Diner has Scrambles and Omelettes, French Toast, and Belgian Waffles.

The Cabin (Inside The Steamboat Grand) 

The Cabin is a lovely restaurant located inside the Steamboat Grand hotel. When you’re interested in a very nice, relaxing sit-down breakfast in Steamboat, The Cabin is an amazing option! If you’re celebrating an event or would simply like to spend a leisurely time eating breakfast, The Cabin is for you. 

You’ll find a menu of Smoked Trout & Boursin Toast, French Toast, the Olympic Breakfast Sandwich, and the Colorado Breakfast. When dining at The Cabin, try the Vegetarian Scramble or Belgian Waffle to start your day off the right way! 

Powder Day Donuts 

Donuts on a snowy Steamboat morning are a perfect way to start a fun day of skiing. Stop into Powder Day Donuts to see what they’ve got baking. Glazed donuts, Chocolate Frosted, and all the flavors you love! But, get there early as they sell out quickly. 

Smell That Bread Daily 

Smell That Bread Daily is the perfect place to pick up a morning Croissant, Monkey Bread, fresh Sticky Buns, or Cinnamon Rolls for your group, or just YOU! Or, if you’re craving a savory breakfast, order an Avolanche, which is an avocado smash, with a hard-boiled egg, bacon, and pickled onion on sourdough.

Or, try an Up the Creek made with Smoked salmon, whipped chevre, cornichons, and pickled onions on sourdough. If you’re just looking for a loaf of freshly baked bread for dinner you can also snag a Ciabatta, Baguette, or Seeded Oast Multigrain Sourdough. Smell That Bread Daily is a perfect spot to check out for breakfast in Steamboat!

Smell That Bread Daily also has Dog Treats available! If you’re traveling with your dog in Steamboat be sure to pick up some Peanut Brittle treats for them.

The Shack Cafe 

The Shack Cafe in Steamboat Springs is a local’s standby breakfast joint serving all the best breakfast classics. If you love a protein-filled breakfast of eggs and meat to begin the day, then you’ll love the Shack Cafe breakfast menu.

Choose from Corned Beef Hash and eggs, sausage and eggs, or bacon and eggs. These will all be served with a side of potatoes and toast. Omelettes are also on offer and you can select one made with vegetables, spinach, Denver omelette, or Mediterranean-style.

Lil’ House Country Bistro & Coffee

If you are a biscuit lover then you need to try Lil’ House Country Biscuits & Coffee! Start off with The Classic, which is a biscuit with egg, your choice of meat, and cheese. Or, if it’s the gravy you love, pick up a Gravy Train which is a classic biscuit with gravy.

For egg lovers, order up a Hombre, made with scrambled eggs, chorizo, hash browns, black beans, and pepper jack cheese. The Egg Steamboat 

The Egg Steamboat is a perfect choice for a casual breakfast to start off your day of skiing in Steamboat. For your egg choices, you have the Breakfast Burrito, Deluxe Egg Sandwich, Huevos Rancheros, Skillets, and much more.

On the healthier and lighter side, the Yampa Omelette is an egg-white omelette with chicken, green chiles, roasted tomatoes, onions, and cheese. Berry Steel-Cut Oatmeal is also on the menu along with Fresh Fruit and Yogurt.

Sweet Indulgences that are served at The Egg are the Strawberry Banana Waffle, Apple Cinnamon Pancake, or the Oatmeal Pancake.

Wild Plum Grocer is a best-kept secret in Steamboat Springs for breakfast! Stop in for a delicious breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich that’s just perfect to kick off your ski day or an active day of hiking the trails. Dine in, on their patio or order your breakfast to go. Wild Plum Grocer also offers a menu of hot beverages like espresso, latte, or cappuccino.

Colorado Bagel Company

The Colorado Bagel Company is the perfect little breakfast spot to pick up your toasted bagel with cream cheese! Colorado Bagel Company has a wide selection of bagel choices in the morning and spreads too. Smoked Fish Sandwiches are also available which include Smoked Salmon or Smoked Trout with onion, cucumber, and Dill cream cheese.

If breakfast sandwiches are more your style, order up an Egg & Cheese on your choice of bagel, or Avocado Toast to start the day off right.

MountainBrew Coffee

MountainBrew Local Coffee Shop in Steamboat is a charming coffee shop in the downtown area. If your favorite breakfast is quiche then you’re in luck! MountainBrew has fresh daily quiche and frittata served with a side of greens.

As a local’s favorite coffee shop that’s been in Steamboat for a long time now, you’ll enjoy the community vibe while you eat your breakfast. MountainBrew also offers fresh pastries and a full menu of delicious hot beverages to sip as you begin your day in Steamboat.
